Dato’ Dr Zaha Rina has more than 30 years of experience in various Senior Management and Board roles in Insurance and Takaful, Financial Markets and several other industries. She is currently Chairman of Manulife Malaysia and a Director of the P&O Group, having previously served on the boards of Zurich Malaysia and MAA Bhd.
Her experience in the financial markets is extensive – she drove the establishment of the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange in 2001 before becoming the Head of Exchanges to oversee the operations of the then KLSE. MESDAQ, MDEX and LFX prior to the demutualisation of Bursa Malaysia. She was the Chief Executive Officer of RHB Securities from 2004 to 2006 and a consultant in the formation of the Bahrain Financial Exchange. Currently, she is an advisor to Sage 3 Sdn Bhd, a boutique corporate finance consultancy firm.
Dato’ Dr Zaha Rina is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Hibiscus Petroleum, Hong Leong Industries and IGB Bhd. In the earlier stage of her career, she was Chief Financial Officer of her family business which included telecommunications, travel and manufacturing industries.
Dato’ Dr Zaha Rina holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Hull University. Her thesis was on capital markets specialising in derivatives.
An ardent supporter of causes that enable women to enhance their contribution in society, Dato’ Dr Zaha Rina has organised many fund-raising activities for related NGOs. She is also a consultant to the Olave Baden Powell Society which raises funds for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
